Stop withholding! I've never seen a Heron with anything but an aquatic specimen in its beak. I want to see a beak-speared gopher!
Gopher gore ahead:

It flew off over the bluff so I didn't get to see it try to actually swallow that. The next day my dad captured a Great Egret doing the same.

How big is the dog?
He is a 75lb Golden Recliner - the owl would have had his talons full

It looks like that poor pocket gopher is being eviscerated alive - nature can be pretty harsh.....

Maybe the owl hoped the Recliner would scare up some grub...but alas...he's a Recliner!

If Gary were to do an online course on bird photography I'd sign up and pay for it in a heart beat. His pictures are beyond amazing, almost impossible it sometimes seems. At least Gary could write up a book on bird photography techniques... I can think of a couple great titles, it would sell millions!! ;-)

Thanks Woodywesty . Really kind of you to say that. If you think that there is anything that I can help you with just ask.

I managed to get some shots of a Red Kite today from the car with my K-5/FA*600mm F4 ED [IF]/Eckla window mount . These birds are very wary and usually fly off.

Beauties. You certainly have a wealth of birds to photograph near you.
