2 of my last photo's taken with the DA 560 Can't say the first is fantastic as the setting isn't the nicest. I'm just glad I was able to get a shot of a roughie for once.

Someone had sent me a PM to explain the joke... LOL !

It wasn't a language barrier, it was just my memory that failed LOL!

So, Yeah maybe it was that...

But in fact, because the goose constantly digs in the mud in search of food, its head often becomes stained rusty-orange from the traces of iron in the mud. (Reference)

Nice shots Kameko. How did you like the DA 560?? Was it sharp wide open at f/5.6?? By next summer I want to get long prime, manual focus or AF it makes no difference to me, but it has to be fairly sharp wide open.
My SMC 500mm f/4.5 is super sharp from f/8 to f/16, but in darker conditions I need wider aperture.

That's a great eagle image. He obviously does not appreciate paparazzi.
Not a great image below, scanned from a chrome, but there were more cormorants than ever I'd seen. The long strings of them visible in the image is only a fraction that were out flying this day. There are strings going out to the horizon at right, just barely visible. BTW: cannot remember for certain what lens was used, but most likely a Sigma 300 f4 APO Macro.

When you posted the earlier Snow Goose pictures of the large flock taking off you mentioned their poop was raining down on you.

You're doing very, very well with the A/400. It's not a given getting focus on BIF with the long throw.

The only conditions where you can go shooting, are the ones outside your door where I live. There are not so many indoor shooting venues. On days like today, I wish there was a mall nearby.

K-1 , Tamron 300, F 1.7x AF adapter.

I think you would find that most malls don't allow photography...

Thank you for the kind words. I really like SMC A 400mm f/5.6. It take some practice to get sharp BIF pics with it. The hardest ones are when bird sneaks up on you really close range and
I have to scramble to turning focusing ring fast as I can to catch up. All my lenses are manual focus. For sure I miss some shots because manual focus, but I get fairly high number of keepers also.

Recent shot of Short_Eared Owl. This one sneaked up on me. I almost missed this shot. I never cranked the focusing ring so fast, make sure I will get it in focus

K-3 and SMC A 400mm f/5.6
