Taken rather by accident, was trying to shoot this phoebe sitting on a drain pipe and was focused on that spot, only caught this at the very edge of the frame when it suddenly took off.

DA*300 + 1.4x TC at f/5.6, 1/640.

It's hard to tell for sure, the image being a bit OOF and blurred, but it looks as though the phoebe is about to snag a small insect on the wing, near the tip of its upper beak.

I think you're right. And in fact I don't think the image is OOF. You're in focus on that insect! It's sharp. The bird isn't out of focus either, but blurred--it is obviously moving faster than the insect, because that's how it catches them.

Here's a shot from April.
We're losing daylight - my drive home from work now; the sun is already setting. I'll try to pull off the road and shoot, but even that is diminishing to meer minutes of available light!
During the winter months I devolve into a weekend shooter, not out of choice.
The most frustrating part is, I love the colors and sun angle this time of year.

I can't wait for this 2 week 'stay-cation' in a few days!

I finally got my first keeper after getting my K-70 a couple of weeks ago, I'm not counting all the 'test' shots to make sure I had no front/back focus issues with my primes.

I'm impressed with how well it performed under adverse conditions as I was shooting into a very strong back-light (bright early afternoon sun plus snow) and through two panes of glass in the window! I was using my DA 55-300 at 300mm, f5.8 @ 1/750 sec and ISO 200. I had to do some PP work to tone down the highlights (bright snow), crop out unwanted stuff and bring up the detail in the bird but overall it came out OK.

Something different with the FA*250-600 + K-1
No PP, except a slight crop...
Actually, it was a test shot before I shot the snow geese last weekend...
