Nice! How did you do that? Multiple exposure? Photoshop? Or were you herding squirrels?

I know what you mean. They paddle along huddled into themselves, and I can't but think that they're trying to conserve body warmth.

That's a belligerent looking fellow!

I like all 3 photos, but #3 is especially striking.

Nothing too exciting, just pushed the shutter at the right time and fair crop in.

It also looks like they have "puffed up" or expand the feathers to create more space to capture air inside so it can be warmed by the body heat

I remember having coats containing goose down (fine feathers) which would clump together and you had to shake the coat to spread
the down to regain insulation

don't know if that is possible or not

My down parka - not wearable until the temp is below 15F - keeps the down in place very well, never have needed to shake 'n fluff. It's a veteran, purchased before 1990. Fortunately, it does not get used extensively.

I made my own goose down parka from a kit by REC back in HS when I took a class called "Bachelor Living" the first time it was ever offered. It worked in college if you didn't get a close look at the crooked seams.

the course covered basic cooking and some basic sewing (a lot of the boys "made" handkerchiefs or t shirts or skipped those sections)

we called it "Bachelor Survival"

Couple of shots from yesterday at the butterfly exhibit. Tokina 400mm AF on the K3 with the AF540FGZII. My grip died yesterday, luckily Adorama had a used one for $54.

It would be really nice if Richoh released an updated 400mm prime in the future. It would have to be a f5.6 for to afford it though. I keep thinking about a DA*300.

There's a really nice 420 5.6. You put the 1.4 on the back of the 300.

You'll have to go to the Macro lens club for that.

The butterflies are here Norm. Welcome to Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park | Grand Rapids, Michigan
Every year from March 1st till April 30th.

I know, I would have to sell my 50-500 first. I only have the Tamron 1.4TC right now.
