Rats! I just saw a Bald Eagle fly up the valley. I could spend the whole day waiting for him to visit my tree but I need to run errands. ARGHHH!

They all came to my place this year. I've never had more than about 20 or 30 before, this year a couple of times a day there's between 150-200 birds in my yard.

Another big size bird from my recent trip. The red-billed blue magpie (Urocissa erythroryncha) is a species of bird in the crow family, Corvidae. It is about the same size as the Eurasian magpie but has a much longer tail, it is 65–68 cm (25.5–27 in) long and weighs 196–232 g (6.9–8.2 oz).

That's a really fine image of a bird that's considered an invasive pest in the USA. If Americans would take time to look, it's actually a rather attractive bird, especially when sunlight flashes on the iridescence of the feathers.

Haven't had much luck recently getting pics of anything different. I did manage to get some pics of a water pipit but it was scurrying around and not that close so they weren't up to much...
Egret and Heron are reliables.

the migrants are beginning to displace our over-wintering finches
this guy has gone from olive to yellow in the last few days
generally that means we'll lose him in the next couple of weeks to this guy

we've never had so many winter residents in the forty years we've been here
so maybe our summer will change as well
