Today at the feeders.
Tamron 300 2.8 and F 1.7x AF adapter.
I was messing around with the K-1 but they all stayed to far away, so I changed to the K-3. But I did get a couple of nice K-1 images first.
The detail on this is amazing, but I had noise at 1600 ISO, not supposed to happen.
Then of course as always happens, you take off the big bird body, put on the small bird body and a big bird turns up and lands right in front of you, and you can't get him all in.
The nuthatch was here as usual.
And Mr. and Mrs. Purple Finch
There were lots of Dark Eyed Juncos (like the K-1 image above) and some other sparrows.
Chipping Sparrow (new today).
American Tree Sparrow
White throated sparrow
Just when I was getting all these close ups as the sparrows came closer and closer to the blind, everyone just flew away all at once. I happened to look up and saw a Merlin come through the yard at high speed. If I'd blinked i would have missed it. The wood pecker stays where he is and simply moves around to the backside of the tree he's on, away from the Merlin's flight pass, and remains still for 4 or 5 minutes. I'm really unclear on how I could get an image of the Merlins. I've seen them come through the yard a few times but they are really quick and don't linger.
Hairy Woodpecker I broke down and took the 1,7x off for this last one. He was just too large in the frame.
