That would be a no here too. Thought about the 300 2.8, but she said £2500 is too much for a present... Might sell the drums.
Do you play in a band?

My Yashica was just a 35mm with a 35mm fixed lens. Took good pictures, but I got the bug and bought a Pentax in 1961. (used)

yes, except for the initial cost of the camera, lenses and memory cards, I agree

and you are in control, for better or for worse, on how you pp the initial result
This is about as much PP as I do...

K-3 and Tamron SP AP 300 F2.8 LD [IF] with HD DA 1.4 converter.
ISO 400. Most images are ƒ8, a couple ƒ4s and one ƒ9 , AV mode

Cross posted in the Post Your Photos and K-3 images

There are a couple of birds over in Abby's gravel pit I went looking for. I could not even get ID images they were so quick. We suspect Eastern Bluebirds but could be Indigo Buntings.

Some days you just forget about what you went for and be happy with what you get.

No sadly not. Not enough time to dedicate to it to do it properly. I get together with mates a couple of times a year for a jam, but that's it. Seriously considering selling the gear now,

Nice Gaz. This is about as good as we get, but, we don't rehearse, just practice at home and try and put it together on the day, as we all live miles apart (bassist lives in Holland). There may also be drink involved... Not bad considering. This was my old Electronic kit...

So... its a long thread, and tough to search... has anyone done a comparison of Sigma 120-400 vs D-FA 150-450?

I don't know of any detailed comparisons of lenses in this thread other than various posters identifying what lens was used to take particular posted photos

have you looked at the info under " lenses " above?

I have - but I figured if anyone on the forum had done any comparison, I'd find it here... 3 G's is a whole lot of coin for weather sealing when the Sigma can be had for a patient buyer for 1/3 the price. I'm just glumly unsatisfied with the 55-300 on the K-1 and there doesn't seem to be many options.

Not a technical one, but I owned the Sigma before buying the DFA. The Sigma is a very fine lens, plenty sharp, though not as sharp as the DFA. It handles very well and is smooth and quiet, and in good light snaps into focus nicely. It also works well with the 1.4 TC. Ultimately it's a little slower to focus than the DFA though, and obviously a little shorter. If you don't have the budget, or can't justify the cost of the DFA, which is very expensive now, it's a very worthy lens.
If you search my early posts on the forum, there are a good few pics taken on the Sigma.
Hope that helps.

3 G = $3,000 ?

that is a little much for the DFA 150 - 450 isn't it???

( or is that the conversion of the Canadian $ to the US $ ??? )

current prices appears to be just shy of 2 G = $2,000

still not chump change

I hope if you decide to get one you can find an experienced one in very good condition as I did for a lower price
