I stumbled into this American Bittern while looking for a Common Gallinule I saw yesterday.
It allowed me to photographed it for about 20 minutes.

A Badger, don't see those . . . . ever! Look forward to you getting some shots of it in the daylight.

I went to visit my sister in Alaska.
I guess you will go visit more often. Nice series.

A visit to Chaplin Lake, a saline lake used for salt (sodium sulphate) extraction in southern Saskatchewan. Shorebirds are attracted by the brine shrimp in the lake.

It's probably thinking "as long as I strike this "part of a reedbed" pose, nobody can possibly see me".

Great shot - I've never got close to a Bittern that wasn't buried in the vegetation.

Phoebe. Notice the single color bill and lack of strong wing bars.

Great to see another one shooting this Pentax DA560 lens. Still love it as much as when I first got it. Colors and contrast are so great with this lens. Hoping for a K3 successor next year to get even more out of this wonderful lens.
