I have acquired another classic MF 400mm, this time the
komine made 400mm f5.6, normally found as a Vivitar, mine however has a Panagor nameplate. While evidently of the same origin as the viv, it's not quite the same there has been some redesign, the front end is different and it has a 72mm instead of 77mm filter thread.
This lens doesn't seem to have a good rep, I wonder if thats because of a rather critical
review on mflenses.com. These are my standard test pics of the castle, samsung NX20, f5.6, f8, f11:
As per the mflenses review, yes this lens is prone to red fringing. But really its resolution is quite good, in fact it might be the best of the viv 400mm f5.6's for that.
Some more pics, pp'ed and resized, all f8, samsung NX20.
Godwit, big crop, small resize. Not as good as my Canon FD 400mm f4.5 for sure, but not bad.
