Swainson Hawk Landing

I normally get to see the Swainson's Hawks flying away, they don't usually land in front of me Sig 500/4.5

I discovered that these guys hang out around the compost bin so, rather than shoot from the porch & crop, I actually went out back with the Sigma 500/4.5 on a monopod.

Bit off, but still about 300mm I have a question I just purchase SMC Takumar 300/4 but it's missing collar I'd like to know what size it is diameter of collar ring it is 85 as lens or?

Do you mean the tripod collar?

I found the collars for the 300/4, 300/6.3 TeleTak and 200/3.5 preset are all different sizes.

Someone else in another thread described a way of making a tripod collar using hardware sourced parts and materials.

Yes I have 300 tele tak it's smaller diameter it's like 200smc tak
I wanted 300 SMC version they went up in prices pretty crazy found one but missing collars yes "tripod mount ring"
Tnx I'll check that tread if I'll find it

As I recall, the method had something to do with those metal clamps used for clamping soft hoses/tubes to rigid fittings, such as on the back of washing machines. And there was some soft stuff, like neoprene to grip and avoid damage tot he lens and something that gave the connection to the tripod plate.
