Striated Pardalote.
K-3 II, 150-450 + 1.4xTC, handheld. See exif for shot details.
I spotted the pardalotes coming and going at their nest, and they almost always used the same perch before entering the nest. It provided me with a good opportunity to get some close-up shots, just a pity I was unable to avoid the OOF branch in the background. I might have to go back and do a bit of pruning

Cheers,
Terry

Nice. The next time you take it's image, when it's gone, and before you move the camera, take an image with the branch in back focused. Stack the two and see if you like the result. Might be easier than pruning.

Rufous-backed Crake. A unique species that only spotted in Yunan, China. Taken around March this year..

It wouldn't really be problematic except for its unfortunate placement.

Nice sharp shot Terry, what corner of Melbourne was it?

I have been lucky enough to get some nice shots of the Spotted variety at Braeside Park ( Posted in the Yardbirds thread ) where they exhibit the same behavior.

This shot was taken at Woodlands Historic Park, my main birding location for a few years now.
Unfortunately there isn't anywhere near as many birds there lately and can only hope it is a result of lack of rain and that they will be back.

Cheers,
Terry

Technique can over come some faults of a lens. First shot K10D with Tak 400mm f5.6 on a tripod using a wireless remote with a 3 second delay after mirror lock up. The second shot K5ii with DA*300 f4 hand held. Both heavily cropped as the eagle was 500-600 feet away

Not bad at all. The old Tak did just fine.

There was a hawk vs doves showdown in my backyard yesterday. Watching the congregation of doves explode out of their roosting tree brought back 'bluefish blitz' memories from my surf-fishing days. Like back then, I was more interested in the predator than the prey.

A couple of shots from my old Sigma 100-300 f4 EX, originally purchased from my MZ-S 35mm SLR but now used on my K-S2. Both shots hand held in quite windy conditions
