That's practically my backyard, Bob! If it was this past Friday, that squirrel I posted probably spotted you.

Still Hanging Around

The Cooper's Hawk was around again today but it was gloomy and wet. That didn't stop me from shooting but it took its toll on IQ. Here's the best of the day.

Looks like he's been tagged

A couple of Superb Fairy-wrens.
The little lady in the 1st became quite fascinated by her reflections in the car, and the male in the 2nd has almost lost his breeding plumage...or just getting it, one or the other
Both shot with K-3 II, 150-450 + 1.4x TC, handheld. See exif for shot details.

Cheers,
Terry

Blue jay on it's way to the feeder. For all these are raucous birds willing to bully smaller species, they are very wary and easily scared off.

Nice shot.

His 'Tux' is looking a little 'worse for wear', perhaps you 'ruffled his feathers'.

A dark-phase (melanic or melanistic) grey squirrel. A local college (Mt. Holyoke) has had a population of these dark squirrels for time out of memory, but within the last decade or so the genetic trait seems to have been spreading. I spotted a few near my house perhaps three years back, and seen them often this year. They seem to be a bit more wary than the greys, are hesitant to get on a bird feeder and will yield it to a grey instantly.

Ha...if I remember correctly he was doing all the ruffling and I was just lucky to catch him at it.

Cheers,
Terry
