I took advantage of the clear skies on bonfire night (5th Nov) to take some moon pics.
1. FD 400mm
2. adaptall 300mm f2.8 60B + 014F 1.4x tc.
Both at f8. samsung NX20. These are 1:1 full sized crops. 60B won this one. The contrasting colour rendition is real - I equalised the WB.
You can also compare to the rather good result I got with a simple 1960's tamron 400mm f7.5 posted here.

Bald Eagle

It's not as sharp as I hoped. The camera was set to spot AF when I saw the Eagle in a tree. It took off toward me and I started shooting, trying to follw the bird. Joe

Raptor in the Rain

Apropos of Rockville Bob's Conowingo Eagle in the rain: it's raining here today and--even as I post--the Cooper's Hawk* is sitting out in the tree. He's obviously not happy about the weather conditions and has been flitting (if birds of that size can be said to 'flit') from branch to branch trying to get comfortable and shaking the water off his wings. I've got a card-full of shots and I'm working on another. Here's the first I've subjected to my heavy-handed pp. In bringing out the bird, I've muted the feel of the weather conditions but it's hard to do justice to both, I guess.
* That is, Coopers or Sharp-Shinned--I can't tell the difference.

(FWIW: K-3, F*600/4 & Tamron 1.4x TC @ 1/500, f7.1 ISO 800.)

and (f9, 1/400, ISO 1600):

Just one more--because it's nice when there's more than just bird & sky.

And sometimes you get lucky.

Eastern Rosellas are generally timid and seem to have a comfort distance of twenty to thirty metres which makes them a difficult subject.

But there are exceptions. The following were taken at around five metres with a K3 and Bigma on a tripod in the middle of a children's adventure playground.

1/ Adult

2/ Juvenile

3/ Juvenile performing magic.
