Purple Gaped Honeyeater singing away.....DFA 150-450

Was shooting with a friend yesterday.... he uses a K5II and Sigma 150-500.... we spent the morning fine tuning his lens focus and then I persuaded him to shoot Raw+ (normally jpeg only)... he took this at iso 2,000 and at 500mm.... about a 50% crop... developed using Piccure and lightroom... quite nice IQ I thought.

I haven't had much time to get out shooting lately what with starting a new job. I'm glad I was out today, as cold as it was! I hate the cold, but love seeing the Short-eared Owls back in Vancouver

K-1 + Sigma 500

Beautiful shot. I see too many bird shots where the photographer appears only attempting to capture a clear image of an isolated bird, but here you have a captivating environment as well. Perfect! Love it.

I love that owl shot, Kameko great capture. I haven't seen an owl in the wild my entire lifetime.

Thanks! Of course, I'll own up to a fixation on getting clear images of isolated birds but it's always a joy when I get a shot that goes beyond that.

We have snow and Feeder Creatures and there were a few more creatures around the feeders.

K-3 , Tamron SP AF 300 2.8 with HD DA 1.4 TC, (420mm ƒ4)

640 ISO, ƒ5.6, AV mode

First at the trough

Not at the feeder, but still in the yard.

A couple of a red breasted nuthatch from the weekend with the K1 and DA 560
I'm always intrigued by their colors and the way the black and white stripes extend into the beak.

Adult female Nankeen Kestrel.
An overcast day and I think the sky dominated the exposure, so ended up with a very underexposed bird. Most pleased that I was able to get a reasonable image out it.
K-3 II, DFA 150-450 + 1.4x TC, handheld. See exif for shot details.

Galahs (cross-posted). K-3 + FA*300 f4.5. Females have a reddish iris; males brown iris.

The Crimson Rosellas aren't happy about the Galahs taking their seed.
