I thought wild turkeys were supposed to be a challenge for hunters, but these are so tame you could probably grab one from behind!

Here's one I prepared earlier.
Female Australian Magpie (White-backed). The girls make it a little easier to get the correct exposure, not being as vivid white as the blokes.
K-3 II, DFA 150-450 handheld. See exif for shot details.

Cheers,
Terry

At my bridge game tonight, Sheila Buchanan remarked that she and her husband Jack were subject to humourous comments when they were in Oz.

I was going to use the term 'sheilas' instead of 'girls', but thought it might be a bit too colloquial.

Cheers,
Terry

A sequence from a couple years ago with a Tamron 70-300. The goose in the last picture was bitterly complaining about the Eagle's proximity.
This trip was one of the first to try and capture a BIF. I had a A* 300mm & 2x teleconverter and the Tammy. The AF on the Tammy won out. My
hat's off to all of you who get great BIF pictures manual focus!

I have found good deals of FA*300mm f/4.5 and Sigma 300mm f/4 APO macro (AF lens). What should I buy for my K-1....?
Thank you.

FA*300 f4.5. I have that lens and also the Sigma 400 f5.6 Tele Macro (the sibling of the 300). The FA* doesn't have a focus limiter, a tripod foot or a slide-out hood, but it is a much better lens than the Sigma. In fact it's a really fine lens. I posted some samples taken with the FA*300 f4.5 above. Here are some more (some also with a Kenko 1.5x TC) taken on K-3 or K-S2.

Grey Shrike-Thrush (female)

Grey Shrike-Thrush (juvenile)

Bell Miner

Lewin's Honeyeater

Rainbow Lorikeet on Flowering Gum

Red-capped Plovers (otherwise called Red-capped Dotterels)

Yellow Spoonbill

Pacific Gull

Eastern Great Egret

Yellow-bellied Water Skink

Lace Monitor

Black Swan

Heath (showing how pleasing the bokeh can be)

I guess I'm done posting here for a while. :-)

Australian Raven.
These blokes are a very challenging subject. This is probably the only shot I have (of many) that shows any detail.
K-3 II, DFA 150-450 handheld. See exif for shot detail.

Cheers,
Terry

Agree with @Des

I am in love with my FA*300/4.5. This is with DA 1.4x TC with K5iis.
Here is a Loten's Sunbird. Can't avoid purple fringing with this bird against a bright sky

Poor light yesterday so just the DA*300mm without the TC.

So is that bird going to be on the table Thursday?
