I can always tell the difference between the males and females.
Our winter males have a lot less yellow, more like this (not my pic)

This is my pic from near the end of April:

Great Black-backed gull (not quite adult)

The same gull, harassing a Long-tailed Duck

The gull eventually moved on and left the duck alone.

Looking good there luftuss. Don't you love how the snow turns the world into a studio with a white back drop and the snow acts as a huge reflector for even top to bottom lighting? My favourite time to shoot birds is with snow on the ground or back ground.

Thank you! I enjoy the variety of birds that come around in the winter.

+1. I just wish the snow stayed around here longer.

I think I posted some of these in the K-S2 section last year.
A year ago an ice storm left my birds with icy tails.
DA 300*, all are cropped, some heavily cropped.

Today's Eagles.

First is using DA* 300mm, Pentax KQ adapter, and Q7. Approximate 35mm AOV is 1380mm. Not cropped.

Second uses the DA* 300mm, 1.4x AF adapter, & K-1. Original crop is 13MP. Last night's SDM to screwdrive
conversion was obviously successful! Used lens about a dozen times before it failed a couple months OOW.
