Originally posted by dadipentak Gotta say, after a decade of skipping from one APSC flagship to the next for more than a decade, I'm rather enjoying the extended lull with the K-3. I got a K-1, which pretty much has distinct uses (enforced, to some extent, by it's weight) but the K-3s (I have 2) are my old reliable for long lens and knock-about shooting. I wouldn't mind improvements but the the K-3 has earned its remarkable run as far as I'm concerned.
Of course the K3 was a unique body when it came out, the first 24mp apsc body by Pentax, and quite a jump over 16mp. I've enjoyed the first years of shooting it.
But it is little things combined that have lessened my satisfaction with the K3, and it varies from the dated high iso output, to the more and more irritating (to me) zip-zip-zip AF (instead of zip-lock) with the DA560 to the annoyance that I get unreliable performance if I don't always keep the battery at full charge. I guess I parted mentally from the K3 the moment its mirror started flipping like a machine gun when I stressed the AF. For me, 5 years with the K3 has been enough, and I read about the better high iso from the KP, the improved AF reliability, the better stabilization.
If Pentax would only take these things, put in a new AF module (I mean, honestly, how long do they want to stay at 20 something AF points for their best APS-C body?), put a proper processor in, and call it K-whatever, I will buy it. Should not be so hard, should it. I cannot see why they don't simply make that new APS-C body, and put it out. It just doesn't dawn on me what on earth they are stalling for...
