thanks

I am very pleased too

in reality, way too much lens ( lenses) for the distance

but as I said, I was just experimenting with the 1.4 + the DA * 300

although you can do the math ( not I, though, I am lousy at math ) seeing is believing so that is why I experiment

That's another really nice image. You're on a roll today. Pity I'm off to the airport soon so I won't see for week what else you have today.

Yet another new toy, and Firecrest games

First my new toy arrived. Was listed merely as "russian telephoto lens". Just about LNIB. Very happy with price and condition, pretty much LNIB, I am keeping this one, though I almost did some serious damage trying to get the M42 mount off.

So I took it along to the RSPB for some first pics. Turned out to be the morning when, instead of "Firecrest spotted" meant merely that s/o had seen one, momentarily, as a tease for everyone else, we had a gala performance all morning with two of 'em, flitting from bush to bush. And there I was, with definitively the slowest focussing lens in the arsenal: large, heavy, heavy and long 360° focus throw. Not that the Canonistas et al were doing much better, the birds typically in amongst the branches to throw every obstacle in the way of an AF focus hit. But everyone was keen, one chap had already chalked up a thousand pics - not difficult to do when your chalking em up da da da da da..... da da da dada da in burst mode.
To my surprise, I actually got some pics just about somewhat in focus. Well, proves the story true if nothing else..

Some more, all samsung NX20. typically f5.6.

Spot the snipe...

Lens kitty is is serious deficit.... anyone want to buy st..

Never mind the rule of thirds. The rules that matter most for birds are focus accuracy, avoiding blur (from subject motion or camera movement) and lighting/exposure. The rest is gravy. You got them right.

Negative space where the bird is looking is good, but I think sometimes I get a bit too fixated on it.

TAIR 3A / 300A 300mm, F4.5 Lens Reviews - Russian and Zenitar Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database Seems to have something of a cult following.

Only 3 elements but it weighs 1600g! Built to last.

Lovely shots again, Luis.

Focus working OK with this combination? Reports seem to be mixed, at best.
