My guess would be a Collared Sparrowhawk or Brown Goshawk. I find it hard to tell them apart, although the Goshawks are bigger.
I think this nails it as a Brown Goshawk.

It was hiding from a couple of Little Eagles so it had to tolerate the annoying guy with the camera.

Spotted in my backyard and a bit of a challenge to AF focus through the twigs with the handheld Sigma 150 500 K3 but - this is where back button focusing helps as the sparrow hawk kept popping up its head in a gap

HELP! I thought at first this was a least flycatcher, or one of the Empidonax species, but the eye ring doesn't look as prominent as it should be. Is there a better birder (it would not take much) who has a positive id?
It's an Eastern Phoebe (Sayornis phoebe). The lack of well-defined wing bars is another clue that it isn't an Empidonax (only the edges of the wing coverts are light). The contrast between the dark crown, and the light nape and back is a handy field mark. The sides of the breast are dark, which is another clue (but form a much smaller vest than an Olive-sided Flycatcher).

Looks like that bird has been grooming Tralee for you.
I wondered what the crow was gathering. To my eye it looks like hair from a white tailed deer.

Yellow-rumped warbler that was accommodating about posing on this snag, but it was a long way out, necessitating a substantial crop.

K-3 and DA*200 with 1.4 TC

Gray Comma Butterfly

Great Blue Herron Sequence, for some reason the Nikon shooters (2 of them with 150-600s) beside me never got off a click. I got off 8. There are lot of situations where "better AF" doesn't save your bacon.

Pentax K5IIs, Sigma 300mm f2.8 EX APO DG, Sigma 2.0x EX APO DG Tele Converter and Sigma 1.4x EX APO DG Tele Converter.

So with both teleconverters mounted, how is the focal length calculated?

I normally think of it in the order they mount, from memory you have the 1.4 on the lens itself and then the 2x attached to the camera body. so (300 x 1.4) x 2 = 840mm (FF) , As with Aperature, 2.8 minus 1 stop, goes to F4 minus 2 stops goes to F8

I have done this myself for a few moon photos, but quality really starting to fade .

Arrrr
