Gray Comma Butterfly

Great Blue Herron Sequence, for some reason the Nikon shooters (2 of them with 150-600s) beside me never got off a click. I got off 8. There are lot of situations where "better AF" doesn't save your bacon.

Nice shots Norm!

It's amazing how much better the 150-500 can be when OS isn't fighting SR...

So with both teleconverters mounted, how is the focal length calculated?
You use a claculator where it comes out to 476mm, then when you turn on the camera you set it to 500mm.

I have heard they are unfortunately likely to become dominant and drive out some native turtle populations.

Great series. Which one did you turn off?

I turn off SR. OS stabilizes the viewfinder...But when I use the 18-135 or 55-300 I turn SR on, and then forget to turn it off again...

So how do you arrive at 476mm?

With just the 2x converter the focal length would be 600mm (2x300=600).

With the 1.4x it would be 420mm (1.4x300=420).

600mm f5.6 EDIF Nikon (an early version, probably 40 years old or more) on an Olympus MFT. and cropped. Acceptable IQ IMHO, but the bokeh in this one is a little chaotic.

Cross posted to the Post Your Photos,.

The beaver pond.
K-1 and DFA 28-105 @ 28mm

K-3 and Tamron 300 2.8 and F 1.7 AF adapter.

It's possible beavers do something besides eat this time of year, but I'm not sure what it might be.

There was more than beavers on the pond.
