Lovely shots. Enjoyed all your posts.
Could you please let know how far were these birds? Thanks
Thanks, guys. I'd estimate the distance as 7-12 m.

+1 on that. Zzeitg always seems to set a high bar for the rest of us.
You're just too kind (as always) . (Anyway... all I know about bird photography I've learned from this thread . And I'm grateful for that.)

At Fermilab for a wildflower walk, the late spring means just the super-early stuff is out. Two cameras - FA100 Macro on the K7II and DA300 on the K5
One memory card to share between them because I'm a moron sometimes.

The DA300 works better on the K3II than on the K5. But, when a bird pretty much poses for you, it's still a great camera.

Fermilab sounds interesting. Do the birds accelerate quickly? And what happens if they collide with something?

I just had a couple of weeks at the beach, in a unit surrounded by noisy birds.
Most of them stayed so well hidden that ASIO, or even the CIA, could not have found them!
Here is one that wasn't so shy;
(KP, Sig 150-500 @ 500, f10, 1/125, iso200, cropped to about 1800 x 2700)

I had a little play today with a Teleplus SHQ 1.7x TC on the DA*300. So 300 x 1.7 = 510mm (x 1.5 + 765mm)

Not a great combination as you have to disable the SDM or you can't get focus lock.

Begs the question as to why the hell it locks on screwdrive but not SDM.

Any way, here are some of the results.

Thanks everyone for the comments and likes on the flamingo. Here's a green heron, also with the DA* 300 1.4x converter combo:

Accidentally had focal length set to 85mm

These shots were on my K1, using my M*300mm @ f8. However, I realize all my EXIF indicates this is 85mm. I had switched lens, and failed to change the focal length.

Weird thing, all my shots with the incorrect focal length of 85mm, turned out sharper than the shots using the correct focal length setting. I’m new to DSLRs, so I don’t have a good understanding of why that might be.

Any info would be appreciated. I did a quick auto-correct in LR, and cropped the sundial shot, but otherwise these are not manipulated.

Something to do with the Shake Reduction, perhaps?

I believe the SR has something to do with the overall length of the lens. The M is a compact lens, much shorter than the typical 300mm lens, so perhaps this is the reason (or part of the reason).
