Nice work Bob.
Racer, not so much.

Yeah, certainly not my best work, is it.

In fact, I stole it off the innerwebs.

I feel so ashamed.

I think this is the chipping sparrow I was looking for earlier. He was hiding in the grass. Boriscleto beat me to the post for this species.
Yes, definitely a Chippy.

Cowbird showing off for the ladies and trying to intimidate other males, but he would not come out of the grass.

I always have been a fan of the "barb wire perch." Nice shot!

K-3 and Tamron SP AF 300 2.8 with Pentax HD DA 1.4 TC.
640 ISO, ƒ5.6, AV

Two male Rose Breasted Grosbeaks turned up at the feeder today. I had a breeding pair around last year, I wonder if one of these is last year's chick. I only got pictures of the one. The other was burrowed down in the feed trough like he was sitting on a nest.

A lesson in Hairy Woodpecker behaviour.

They actually get the nuts out of the peanut feeder with their tongues.

Blue Jays just go to the feeder rail and take the whole peanuts.

Meanwhile, King Squirrel didn't seem interested in eating. But he sat there and squeaked away offering a challenge to the other squirrels. Any who came into his "territory" he chased after until they left.

Seems a little greedy, especially since the birds just swoop in and take what they want. He doesn't seem to mind birds as much as other squirrels. He even came into the blind with me to see what was going on in there.

Backyard action, removed the AF 1.7 for the birdbath. Lots of manual focus going on as the Cardinal was very active...

There are many great photos here, and I've been lurking for a while, but I'm finally going to join the club here, with one of the first photos taken with my new-to-me A 400. I'm really enjoying using it, it's easy enough to handle (especially with my monopod - a poplar stick with a bolt sticking out...). There wasn't anything out there except for a plethora of these creatures.

Welcome to the club Bert!
Truth be told, I think a maple stick would be more fitting.
