Looks good Sterby - if you haven’t already visited us, you should check out the Stargazers Lounge right here: Astrophotography - PentaxForums.com
Thank you! I know of the Stargazers Lounge but I don't have enough time to get deeper into astrophotography, not with doing University as well. Right now a 6 weeks of exams period is coming up, starting next week with Astronomy and Planetology, having a bit of fun before the hardcore exams
When I have more time (and maybe better equipment) I'll be around more frequently, including the astrophotography club

The red-bellied woodpecker perched on the support post, the little downy used one of the wire perches on the suet-block holder, but the catbird walked atop the squirrel guard foraging for crumbs dropped by the sloppy-eating woodpeckers.

I don't have another woodpecker image in the RTP folder, so I'll have to settle for this little tufted titmouse.

Impressive, but with a subject like that, I think I would rather have 1000 mm.

+ 1 on those comments. Not the kind of bird image that appears on PF daily, or monthly for that matter. Excellent work.
Thanks for the comments and the likes on the guira cuckoo image. Here's a very different subject --- a female bush dog trying to retrieve a red toy from a pond, shot with KP + DA* 300 + DA 1.4x converter:

I recently purchased what is possibly my fourth copy of the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 and every time I buy another I wrestle with the fact I have the DA* 300mm f/4 as well. Then I stick the Pentax 1.7x on the prime and all is well in the world again (just not my wallet)

LOL! I know the feeling--I bought the DA*300 twice. It can make sense to have both based on what you shoot.

Des, I particulary love the first one - I looked on flickr to see the whole thing instead of scrolling down through the image. Really lovely.
I googled the plane rego VH-SEH and found it was "destroyed" in 1988. It has obviously been rebuilt. I don't know anything (well, not much!) about aircraft registrations, but was surprised that the rego was renewed rather than a new rego issued, as the crash was servere; impact and fire - the rebuild must have been almost a new plane.
Perhaps a Forum member might bring some light to the matter.

Thanks for your comment Rod. It's pretty disturbing actually - seems the 1988 crash killed the pilot: Investigation: 198801404 - Piper PA25-235 (Pawnee), VH-SEH, Deddick River (24 km NE of Gelantipy) VIC, 9 November 1988

Some more with the K-3 and FA*300.
