I went back yesterday to see if I could find any more alligators. Caught this one in the late afternoon / early evening. K3 - 150-450 at 330mm.
While walking along the trail, there was a couple that had two small children. The wife stopped me and asked me if I had seen anything further up the trail. I told her what I saw, and where-about to expect seeing it. While I was talking to her, the husband was eyeballing me up and down. From the way he was looking at me, I had a feeling he was going to say something stupid to assert his manliness in front of his woman, but he kept quiet. She told me thanks for the tip, I said good luck, and we went our separate ways.
A bit later, we all happened upon the gator above about the same time. I didn't say anything to them when I walked up, and just went to take my pictures. While I was shooting the pic above, she said "That's a nice camera". Before I could say thanks, the husband said "That's cheap junk, you can get that at walmart for 30 bucks, lets go" He grabbed her arm, and they started to walk away.
I could just tell from the way he was looking at me the first time, he had something stupid to say, but cheap junk? walmart? 30bucks? I actually questioned if I had heard what I did. I wanted to say something back to him, but knew it would only escalate things and I didn't want a broken camera. Plus, I was standing in between him and this alligator so I just let it go. I don't need to prove anything.
