Is it a Nightingale, or another, unknown to me bird?
Sadly, my K3II focussed on the tale instead of the eye in the second shot, while I am pretty sure I had the focus point on the eye...
Ah well, it's more about knowing what this bird is....
I think it's one of the Sylviid warblers, but I'm not sure which -- the leg colour and bill length don't seem to match. Perhaps one of the Acrocephalus (reed or marsh warbler) or Locustella (Savi warbler).

Edit:

On second thought, I think it's a garden warbler (Sylvia borin). The bill and legs match. I had the right family, but the wrong genera.

What's the location? Seems maybe like a Phoebe or Pewee.
His/her profile shows Netherlands. There are no Tyrannidae (tyrant flycatchers) in the Old World.

Thanks for that Des, yeah that seems to work. Previously I tried both dials, for some reason got a couple of blank "this function is not available" screens.

Yes, you are right!
How could I forget the garden warbler, I don't know. I have heard them a lot, but this one was part of a pair that flew by fast and did not make any sound. Some birds I mainly hear and only see very little off, like the lesser whitethroat or this garden warbler.

Thanks!

It was near a small river "de Lek" in central Holland. It was a garden warbler though, much heard but little seen.

The 2x TC allowed me to keep the crops within reasonable bounds.

Thanks, Chip! I was rather pleased--especially since the air was kind of thick this morning.

Nice photos, I love it when I see owls.
Only one I've ever managed to photograph round here, just a little pygmy owl.

Perfect Crescent

I don't do BIF and I'm humbled by much of what I see here on this thread, but the poor “Duchess” (Pentax-A* 300mm F4.0) don't get out much.

Thought the light was to improve dramatically... but hope was short lived so still at 8000 iso.

What appears at first glance, to be a one bird fast flight sequence... was actually four birds in one shot, flying in different directions.

A potential air traffic control nightmare in the making and I'm also still undecided on the best presentation of this image... landscape or portrait.
