The only thing stopping me from buying this lens is the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Your examples are just superb -- and the lens helps, of course.
Her Majesty's Treasury has nothing against. Just go ahead!

I sadly have left the Pentax fold...

I enjoyed my time with Pentax and really loved the DA 300 and 1.4 TC. The K3II is also an excellent body but doesn't quite do it for me when it comes to AF performance (for tracking). I thought I would wait and see what the K3 III would bring, but then I saw that Nikon announced the 500mm f/5.6 PF lens and I decided it was time to make the switch. I can't afford that lens now, but my long term goal is to own a super- telephoto lens and this sounds like a great option.

I'll be shooting the 200-500 on a D500 for now. I'll keep following this thread though to see all the great wildlife images and I'll try to post from time to time.

K3 III (or however it might be named) is also on my wish-list.

What's the price of the mentioned Nikon 500mm f/5.6? I'm wondering if there would be some serious advantages compared to DA 560?

Anyway: keep posting your photos and enjoy taking them

This 500mm Nikon lens looks very interesting since it's relativ lightweight and compact - Price 3.999,- €. Some infos about the lens you can find here (german).

OK, 1.460 g compared to 3.040 g, interesting. Also considering it has "19 Linsen in 11 Gruppen" compared to "7 elements, 6 groups". Is it the plastic body what makes it so much lighter than DA560 (and even lighter than DFA 150-450!)?

The headline description says that the core piece of this super tele lens is a phase-fresnel-lens - a special optics element with special breaking index proberties I guess - that allows such slimming cure in size and weight.

Seems like there's a potential downside of this lens design - https://www.nikonimgsupport.com/eu/BV_article?articleNo=000006500&configured=1&lang=en_GB

It’s listed at $3600. Only 3.2 lbs and the MTF chart rivals the Nikon 500mm f/4E.

Hi to all, Long time I haven't used my 300mm, but I visit regularly to look at all your wonderful shots!
This afternoon, I sat on a chair with a couple of beers, waiting for the Humms to visit the flowers...
Quite relaxing moments in between the shots... but when it comes, one needs to be alrt! They are not evident to follow!

Among others, here's one, that is quite heavily cropped, but I found the scene quite interesting.
