I'm cheating here, A DA *200 image not even with the TC on it. It's not my fault the bird was so tame..... Peck Lake trail, Algonquin Park.

The color contrast in the first picture is just perfect.

Hey Norm - did you have a pocket full of peanuts? Perfect light for the first one - its hard to get the detail on these guys.

It could have been a little brighter, but cranking up the ISO on the K-1 really helped. Actually, I had dog kibble and peanuts, and a bit of trail mix. But I didn't need it. He knew if he hung around long enough someone would give him something.

The park doesn't want you feeding mammals but birds they consider a "grey area" whatever that means. To me it means feeding birds is OK until someone says "don't do that."

I really like the "peek-a-boo" second shot. How on earth did you get the eye so perfectly in focus?

I used my M*300mm....even though the data says 135mm. I failed to change my setting - just started shooting. What fun!

And we had a visitor from North Carolina in the park today, he plans on hanging his version of this image on his wall to confound friends and neighbours:

They were 50 feet up and it took him 5 minutes to see them after being told where they were.

What a fun thing to do for him. I'm sure he will get a lot of oohs and aahs from his friends.
