Yes Dave. Actually had the Audubon field guide in the car. They were very tolerant of my movements. Nice to actually find something besides the usual suspects.

I'm so proud of myself. I've never seen one but they're legendary.

Fine shots @zzeitg What lighting did you use, or was it just natural lighting?
BTW, you should X-post in the macro frog thread (doesn't need to be really macro).
Just natural lighting, Des.

Nice shot guys!! The migratory season in our little red dot has been started about two weeks ago. I'm glad that I'm still able to meet this Brown-chested jungle FC over the weekend, consecutively third time in a row since 2016. This species currently stated as "vulnerable" under the IUCN red list.

All fun was mine When I approached the gator the fish was already killed, I missed the catch, perhaps it was underwater. I even forgot that I'm afraid of gators , it was pretty close, about 3 meters.

Nicely done. Glad you weren't martyred to photography in the process.

Full and Cropped Image K3 with the Sigma 500mm F/4.5. I think this camera lens combo is great in keeping artifacting down to a minimum. I see artifacting in a lot of bird images on flickr. Artifacting is typically seen around the beak and head areas. It is typically a symptom of lower light and over sharpening.

Thanks. Some luck involved as well. Most of the egrets around here won't let you get within hundred yards of them, but this guy, he was in area near a popular trail, and he seemed habituated to human beings — didn't mind me being relatively close to him at all.
