Nice shots Steve.

Shy Albatross off Bruny Island Tasmania. These magnificent mollymawks breed only on three islands around Tasmania, so they are very vulnerable. (Interesting images and stories here: www.wwf.org.au/what-we-do/species/shy-albatross) They have a distinctive black notch under the wing. K-3 + DA 55-300 PLM at 300mm.

A young Shy taking off.

The launch might be ungainly, but they are a picture of grace in flight.

A really nice series you took. As you say they are beautiful in flight, but like the White Pelican here, on the ground, not so much.

Full and Cropped Image K3 with the Sigma 500mm F/4.5. I think this camera lens combo is great in keeping artifacting down to a minimum. I see artifacting in a lot of bird images on flickr. Artifacting is typically seen around the beak and head areas. It is typically a symptom of lower light and over sharpening.

Really like the quality of the crop image.

Amur paradise flycatcher, a subspecies of Asian paradise flycatcher, winter migrant to South East Asia. Too bad that haven't got a chance to see it in long tail during the mating season.

"The tail of adult males can extend up to 27 cm or more but is rarely seen in Singapore." (Amur Paradise Flycatcher – Singapore Birds Project) Long tail or no, you still got a fabulous series Luis. You have such wonderful birding in Singapore. Thank you for sharing your wonderful captures.

Wonderful shots. APFC is indeed a lovely sight in full plumage. All white with a ribbon like tail
