Ostrich-by-the-sea, with two of three chicks visible, although it's easy to overlook them.

Thanks very much Albert.

"The tail of adult males can extend up to 27 cm or more but is rarely seen in Singapore." (Amur Paradise Flycatcher – Singapore Birds Project) Long tail or no, you still got a fabulous series Luis. You have such wonderful birding in Singapore. Thank you for sharing your wonderful captures.

Wonderful shots. APFC is indeed a lovely sight in full plumage. All white with a ribbon like tail
Thanks for the comments Des and Kumar! Looking forward for the full plumage sight in future and will definitely share it here! Cheers!

Another K-3 and Tamron 300 2.8 with Pentax 1.4 TC post. I often shoot for hours with this combo.

Taking note of current feeder birds, with my camera. I didn't manage an Evening Grosbeak shot but there is a flock of about 20 using the feeders. So far they only come when I'm not in the blind.

Amur paradise flycatcher, a subspecies of Asian paradise flycatcher, winter migrant to South East Asia. Too bad that haven't got a chance to see it in long tail during the mating season.

Beautiful bird! That first shot is really top notch

Nice shots Steve.

Shy Albatross off Bruny Island Tasmania. These magnificent mollymawks breed only on three islands around Tasmania, so they are very vulnerable. (Interesting images and stories here: www.wwf.org.au/what-we-do/species/shy-albatross) They have a distinctive black notch under the wing. K-3 + DA 55-300 PLM at 300mm.

A young Shy taking off.

The launch might be ungainly, but they are a picture of grace in flight.

Nice action shots of a very interesting bird.

These are both excellent Mohammed, but the bee shot particularly stands out. Don't see 300mm+ plus lenses used for macro-type shots like this very often - the minimum focus distance makes it difficult. Well done.

Not a Pardalote this time.

Why did the snake cross the road? Because I didn't try to stop it.

The eastern brown snake is considered to be the second-most venomous terrestrial snake in the world. This one was a bit over 2 feet long (700-800mm).

Well, actually it did stop as I approached. I moved around in front of it for a different shot but after it realised I wasn't going to attack it, it continued on it's merry way.
Straight towards me! Time to go.

That's the second I've seen in a week (or it might be the same one), first time I got within a snake length before I noticed it (when it started leaving).

When I first glanced at the text I thought 700-800mm was the lens you used, and thought maybe your were imprudent not to use something longer.

Separation from dangerous wildlife and protection from trespassing disputes are two unappreciated benefits of telephoto lenses!

These were much more benign - taken recently in Algonquin Park.

Canada Jay (nicely hiding the coloured plastic rings on its legs!)

Red-breasted Nuthatch

K-3, DA*300m, plus 1.4x DA TC for the Jay
