Excellent exposure control on the black crow, Bhuey!
Thank you. They are one of the hardest to get a good photo of.

Every time I see a picture of a rooster, I think of our rooster who attacked our 6 year old daughter. The rooster lost big time shortly later; no surprise there.

Yesterday again with the SMC-PENTAX 400mm f5.6 lens on the old K-r .
Poor little Red Eared slider has a Hook through its nostril and sticking out its mouth !
It cant eat properly since it cant close its mouth to do so.
Ive been trying to catch it so I can remove the hook !
Getting real close...….Soon I hope......

One of our resident bush rats, a rather endearing native species. K-3 + FA*300 f4.5. I took a couple of shots without flash, but this one with a touch of diffused fill flash showed much better colour and detail, and a nice catchlight. A bit of reflected flash on the left side of the bird bath was a price worth paying IMO.

Kookaburra

Kookaburras are relatively common throughout Australia but difficult to capture showing the eye due to a heavy overhanging feathered brow. I usually only get a dark black hole so I'll settle for this.

Haha, that's brilliant! Much better than trying to focus on something titchy that's 300 yards away.

He kept tilting his lens up, but couldn't quite get the bird framed.
