Today at the feeders,
K-3 and DA* 60-250 with HD DA 1.4 TC.

For the first time in 5 years, Pine Grosbeaks
The Grosbeak and Pine Siskin are supposed in town too but I haven't seen any yet.

A few from today.

Blue Jay

American Wigeon, female

American Wigeon, male

The wigeon pair was feeding in a pond in a local park. I was lucky to be there to get the portrait shots.
If the cold weather keeps up like the last few days, I image the pond will freeze over soon.

Way out of my league and comfort zone from an astrophotography standpoint, but thought I'd try using the DA 560 and Astrotracer last night on the Orion nebula

Sulphur-crested Cockatoo in the nest hollow.
I tried to convince it to put the crest up, but refused to cooperate.

Lots of nice photos since my last visit!
A new backyard bird for my list, a red-breasted nuthatch. The white breasted nuthatches are pretty common.
All cropped, with a KP and DA 300* lens.

Mr Cardinal in the vines.

Northern Mockingbird. We're just on the north edge of the area where they are found over the whole winter.

Two weeks ago I flushed a kingfisher from this perch, and since then I've been a bit more cautious as I walk by that spot. Today this bird arrived just as I got there and gave me a few seconds before it took off again. I hope to get more shots in future in better light - and with the tail in full view!.

Helmeted Guinea fowl. These are so common you quickly give up taking pictures of them.

Hi, long time no post for me...
Still enjoying other's photo ! Nice job all !

OMG! I was a "victim" of a very strange coincidence on this "Remembrance Day 2018" in Canada ...
I had just liked a Facebook post by a friend of mine in one of my local Bird watcher group, where he detailed the way he did saw a Pine Grosbeak "lifer" 3 days earlier in our Haut-Richelieu, Quebec area.
And just one minute after I liked the FB post, my girlfriend observed some "weird birds" she never saw in the fruit tree in our backyard. So, you can imagine my shock when I realized that was three individuals of the Pine Grosbeak eating in the tree! They stayed long enough that I was able to get my photo gear setup and took a series of nice pics of them, also being a "lifer" for me.
And yes... I will remember that one!

Congratulations, especially on capturing a fine image in addition to a personal first-sighting.

Thats not fair. I've been stalking them around here for over 5 years now, and not even a little sniff. We see them all the time, but we can't get close enough to photograph them,

Hi Norm

Maybe you could ask Gary ( ducatgaz) to have a lend or his FA 1200mm...
