Great shot, but the EXIF says DA*" 300 not DA 55-300
My error, will correct. I didn't think I had the DA 300mm at the time of that trip.

I know I post a lot of Long-tailed Duck shots at this time of year but I find them very photogenic, they have a lot of character, they are a bit exotic (they spend the summer in the Arctic) and they pose nicely in relation to each other.

I came across a lady feeding this pair of Cardinals and was more than happy to take advantage.

Thanks Albert. There were 2400 of these duck counted on the Toronto Christmas Bird count this weekend, but there are only a couple of spots where they come in close enough for decent shots.

The Long-tailed ducks are wonderful. I had the privilige to see a small group of them once (probably on a pause during their migration).

Great shot! I can’t help but feel some nostalgia when I look at excellent DA 300 shots like this...

Strap attachment ring for DFA 150-450mm

My stainless steel eye bolt arrived. I had ordered two actually, one M5, the other M6. The M6 one was too big.
15 mins drilling and tapping the hole, i deliberately made the thread tight so it stays on.

A little dab of Loctite might help as well.

Thanks. This particular bull elk was all by himself (which is somewhat unusual). He had his nose to the ground, chewing on the grass, but kept edging closer and closer, until he posed for a surprisingly long time, as if he wanted his picture taken and wished to show his best side.

Another bull Roosevelt elk, this one the master of a large harem, shot with DA* 300 + DA 1.4x:

Just btw, that weird plane I photographed flying overhead at Burton Mere RSPB (post 30240) is, I have now figured out, an airbus transporter from the Airbus plant at Broughton (makes wings, or at least it does at the mo, if the Nationalists and zealots dump us out of EU then who knows..)
