A very rare leopard cat in the wild. I was crouching and had to sit real still when this cat was walking towards me (and my frozen still family) without realizing we were there.
I didn't even check the screen to see if I got the settings correct. Finally it stood still when it saw me. Gave me chance to shoot reasonable picture.
Almost full frame. Slight cropping

K-5iis + FA 300/4.5.

Very nice! I just purchased a used K-5iis. I will keep using the K-3 for birds and the 2s for macro and landscapes. In my area I occasionally see bobcats and I like to use the K-5ii with them.

That is a really fine BIF. You've captured a dramatic posture that really shows off the spoonbill, both its color and its unique features. It's a real wish-I-could-have-done-that image.

It's always great when you can link an experience like that with such a great shot.

The luxury of two cameras. I'm envious. I love the BIF!

Now that I think of it, the lighting does highlight the wing features in a unique way. It’s obvious but I didn’t judge it that way.

I want to play with the K-1 but I figure there wouldn’t be much difference with my landscape photos between it and the 5iis. $1500 vs $350 for a 5iis.

DFA 150-450

Wonderful shots. Now I feel I should have just got myself the 150-450 instead of 560

I was impressed with the details rendered by the 150-450 here given the lack of direct sunlight.

My last couple of trips to the Holland Marsh north of Toronto were unproductive, but this time I was able to find one Snowy Owl. Even so, for the first couple of hours all I saw was a few pigeons, so I took the opportunity to take a few shots for my "buildings past their best" thread. Buildings past their best - Page 9 - PentaxForums.com
It's nice to have options sometimes.

The owl was on the highest twig of the highest tree in the area and these shots are heavily cropped. I didn't want to flush the bird but some are much more skittish than others.

A wonderful capture. You don't get these kind of opportunity often while having the camera at the ready.

We're fostering a 6-7yr old female husky, a former breeder female. She's a sweetie. A couple weekends ago, on a crisp sunny day she was watching some birds in the cedar tree and stray snowflakes drifted down from the tree. With the DA300mm I was able to stand across the yard and get more casual shots, which I think worked out really nicely. The background isn't great, but you take what you can get.
