I've only seen Prairie twice - a great warbler. A nice song if you ever get to hear it.

The osprey pausing in flight to look down is an especially good capture of a fleeting moment.

I've seen quite a few Winter Wrens over the years, but this is the first one I've been able to photograph. They usually dive into a brushpile the moment you see them - more secretive than the similar wrens I remember from UK. This one disappeared around a tree then spent five or ten minutes shuffling about among the vegetation on the forest floor before it finally came into view.

The indigo bunting is gorgeous. Hereabout I've only seen them perched very high up, so that they'd only show as a tiny silhouette in an image taken with my longest lens. Even with binoculars I've never seen one well enough to appreciate that blue.

This juvenile house finch has adopted me, she lands on the deck every time I am out there, most of the time she takes a nap!

Interesting. I only see them during the Spring migration, and they are usually at ground level, or a few feet up from there looking for food. If ever you have the chance, you need to see their blue color just as the sun is going down. It really stands out.
