Hello,

Here is an attempt with my "new" SMC-Pentax A* 300 mm f/2.8 ED[IF], recently acquired.
It was quite tricky to get a decent focused image.
Picture taken with a K-7, ISO 640, 1/2500, f/4; aperture priority

I use mine with the 1.7X autofocus TC. They work well together.

Yes, I got such advise to try finding this TC. However, I fear that the K7 will be the limiting component for a very rapid moving target like this one. Also, the weight of this lens is really a pain, I used a monopod and was sitting in a chair watching at the tree hole. Adding an additional 300 g is not something that I would do with such setup.
I plan in a near future to get a KP camera, perhaps the 1.7 x autofocus TC would be justified (if it is compatible).

Thanks

Holstein Breakfast with Pentax 300mm F*

I just love this lens! A local dairy farm had just put out the fodder for their young Holstein feeder stock. 1/1250 sec; f/6.3; ISO 400 Pentax K3. Slightly cropped and shadows lightened.

That's a fine series, but my favorite is definitely the Queen Butterfly. The color palette of that photo is gorgeous.

Thanks very much Steven. The robins are great models, not only because they are so photogenic but also because they remain absolutely still!

+1. Each one is excellent. There's a 3D effect with each one - particularly the hawk and the butterfly.

Congratulations Luis. Lifers rarely yield such good captures!

Thanks. I'm glad to hear that other people find these kinds of contrasts in nature pleasing as well.
