Trying out the DFA 150-450mm at wide open F5.6, ISO 400, 1/320, picture turn out to be very good, and sharp on my K70. Many thanks to another pentaxian's James let me trying out his lens this morning.

The Superb Parrot is a threatened species. They are relatively common around Canberra and my house is close to a breeding area so I often hear them flying over but I've never managed a decent shot of a male before. Recently there was a group of 100+ feeding on a newly spray seeded building site less than 500 metres from my front door, of course I couldn't get there at the right time and it looked like I missed out. I got lucky with a small group a few days later when I was on my way to the shops, a quick dash back home for the camera paid off.

I started of cautiously so I didn't spook them

but I slowly managed to creep to within 10-15 metres

All shot with the K3 and DFA 150-450, wide open at 1600 ISO
Colorful birds! Nicely done.

Well done.
Parrots on the ground spook easily in my experience.
Good stealthy work.

These guys were too busy feasting on the seed to be worried about anyone that didn't go charging at them. It was just a case of taking it slow and watching the birds reactions to be sure I wasn't getting too close for (their) comfort.

wobbly 500mm f4.5

Not sure whether this is the place to post this, but here it goes. I just bought a 500mm f4.5 Takumar. However, the lens doesn't join up properly in the middle. i know this lens breaks up in two but it just seems unduly loose and i can't find a way to screw it tight together, nor can I find a manual online to see how it's done, how it separates.

Can anyone help, please?

Can you post a pic? The lens comes apart near the mount in order to use a filter, but other than that it should not "breaks up in two".
