This one was taken with the KP and DA*300 F4. I now have the 1.4 AW TC and hope to get even closer, but cropping is quite useful with this combination as well, without TC
Nice bird.

Outstanding series Noel. Must add Mungo NP to the bucket list.

A very surprising birdbath user - Buff-banded Rail. KP + DA 55-300 PLM at 300mm
Nice. Do they usually live in marshes?

I don't think I've seen a bird with whiskers like that before.

Thee are a number of birds with "whiskers", including the Hairy Woodpecker and the Downy Woodpecker that are common here.

I don't think I've ever paid enough attention to either of them to notice that before but they still don't compare to those on the Amur Paradise Flycatcher. I also didn't know there were 2 different woodpeckers that look that much alike and are of similar size so I guess when I'm out deer hunting next week I will have to pay closer attention to see what ones are in the area as they will get quite close if you still very still for a very long time. I just thought all the little ones were the downy ones with the big ones being pileated. They are both loud as the fly through the forest, but probably the loudest flight from birds I hear are the tiny black capped chickadee .

Excellent captures of a cute bird! We have the African Paradise Flycatchers here but I've never been able to shoot one; they're always on the move and very skittish. Thanks for sharing.
Best.
