Wow, that is a really good show of the astrotracer's ability. Not sure about the reds in the image. They seem a bit too saturated, but there's an amazing amount of detail in the image.
The reds in the nebula are fairly saturated but I may have upped it too much but it is hard to tell as neither of my monitors are all that great.

First use of new Pentax-FA 645 400mm f 5.6 lens.

This is the first time I have had the chance to use my new FA 400mm f 5.6 telephoto lens. These deer were about 1/2 mile away. These photos were taken with high ISO in order to hold up the shutter speed for hand-held snaps. SOC except cropping for framing purposes.

Sigma 50~500mm @ 500mm. Not the most outstanding long lens, but when everything hits properly the images are OK.

Interestingly looking bird. Good shot.

I recently bought a A*2.8/200mm, took it out for a New Year morning walk and used it for the first time with the Kenko Pz-AF 1.5 converter.
Hope this qualifies for the 300mm club

The combination probably doesn't match my DA* 4/300 when aiming for ultimate IQ but I find the results quite usable! And for travelling this might be a nice, versatile option.

... and happy new year to all of you!!

Love the first one most.

Just a couple more Snowshoe Hare photos. Obviously it doesn't like to be harassed by me.

Taken at ISO 4000 and 5000. The high ISO performance of the K-1 is simply amazing.

Looks to me like it was mugging your shot (or is it called photo bombing now???).

Got a few days to catch up with today.

A couple days ago, one of only two eyes-sharp shots of a Verdin flitting around the tree looking for insects. Other shot had even more twig blockage. K-1 + DA*300, very heavy crop.

And just a little bit ago, a White-Winged Dove puffed up to stay warm on a very windy cool day. A pair of the doves and the Gila woodpeckers have spent hours just sitting in the tree today. K-1 + DA*300, minor crop.

Good catches. I guess this is the time of year birds flock to your area.
