Love this one. The OOF foliage in front really give a sense of place.

Post your best shots from 2019

I would urge all you Titans of Telephoto to post up to 10 of your favourite shots from last year here: Year End Review: Your Favorite Photos of 2019 - PentaxForums.com

So many wonderful shots in this thread that should be shared with the wider PF community.

Thanks very much indeed @Luftluss. As is often the case with birds, the setting was serendipitous - a liittle weak sunlight on the foreground and background foliage came at just the right moment.

I'm sorry - I find it hard to imagine not being interested in what we are photographing, but there you are. I've deleted my post.

Thanks Aaron - the bird is a Palm Warbler. which is one of my favourites since it seems to show up with its bobbing trail everywhere I travel.

I acquired the M 400mm f5.6 back in December. I haven't had much opportunity to do much with it but with a bit of sunshine today I took it to the RSPB. This swan provided an nice opportunity to try some backlit pics. First impressions good.

New Holland Honeyeater.
K-3 II, DFA 150-450 handheld. See exif for shot details.
A pretty dull day, heavily overcast, so had to use 1600 ISO and a shutter speed at the very low end for handheld...I don't usually like going there.
Post processed in the latest development version of darktable, which does quite a nice job of removing noise from the dark areas whilst preserving detail.

Cheers,
Terry

Took the 150-450 to the zoo before the snow and cold hit this weekend.
