When your bill comes I will put it in the shoebox raffle drawer, and we will see if it comes out in the monthly drawer.
If you complain about the long delay, it won't be in subsequent drawers.
The Menkhorst et al
Australian Bird Guide has a well-deserved reputation as a model book of its type. but like the Sibley guide for NA birds, it's a stay-at-home, too big & heavy to carry conveniently in the field, and not really formatted for that purpose. The reason for the immense success of the Petersen field guides was that they were pocketable, originally in hard cover but later in either hard or soft cover, gave minimum information necessary in print, and had plates with numerous birds of a group on one page with little tick marks indicating critical details for identification. Also, I have found one flaw in the ABG is the index. Unless you know the exact name of a bird, you cannot get to the correct page. You cannot, for example, go to the index and be directed to one or more plates that show all "wrens" or all "blackbirds" or all "hawks." But, a book cannot do everything.
