This trumpeter swan (actually a pair of them) was kind enough to fly by for a quick photoshoot today - K-50 and A 400/5.6

(Also a few more shots from today here, but this was the best.)

This weekend I was hiking the woods looking for arriving warblers when I heard a crash from a tree behind me. Assuming the wind had simply blown down an aging limb, I almost ignored it. Turning to look back, I saw this black bear had scrambled up a nearby tree, giving me this cautious look. I snapped a few photos as we maintained eye contact and then left it alone and continued on my way. I'd say we were about 20 yards apart and I had just passed this location as I worked down the hill. Had it not scrambled up the tree, I would never have been aware of its presence. These are two uncropped images from the experience.

The branch is hardly able to contain the bear. It appears the bear was more startled by you, than you were of the bear. Those are great photos, but it was a risky venture into the woods.

I like the second image. The bokeh is very smooth.

Tamy 150~600mm on a Canon 7D. Out-the-window photography is about the only place I use this rig.

*A window that overlooks the WPRESTO Wildlife Sanctuary and Squirrel Feeding Station.
