SMC A ☆ 400 F2.8 ED[IF] with Pentax F 1.7 AF adaptor. I was waiting in my portable blind for the male painted bunting to show up with his 2 youngsters, which he is feeding in the trees in the yard, when the roadrunner shows up . Right at minimum focus distance in early morning light so no f16+ to get more than 1/4 inch depth of field with f8....Uncropped.

This is the greatest birding forum ever. Just hope someone here gets the first decent photo of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, soon, or within the next 5-year before I go home.

RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT hold your breath awaiting that decent photo.

Lilac-breasted roller, brought to acceptable condition with PP applied to an OOC image in which the bird was almost entirely black = only traces of color visible. Happens to back-lit birds photographed late in the day with matrix metering selected. Should have shifted to spot meter mode.

It's the end of the day for the Purcells in this shot here - getting the colours close was proving to be quite a challenge... A 400/5.6

I find this picture way too amusing with his head tilted over looking straight on.

Yes I had the same amusement, instant attraction, when I saw that shot, so I decided to publish it immediately before I forget or too busy for a while..
