A late night with the SMC A* 400/2.8. The results of 25 minutes of total exposure on Andromeda (M31) from last Saturday. The framing you see is actually about what one actually gets with a 400mm lens on an APS-C camera give or take a few pixels. I am at the moment combining another 2.5 hours of shots from last year with this one so that I can bring out more details with less noise so expect another post at some point.
77x20s (with astrotracer for tracking)
ISO 1600
f/3.5
Lens: SMC A* 400mm f/2.8 ED [IF]
Camera K-3
Stacked in Astro Pixel Processor
Edited in GIMP
Final tweaks in RawTherapee
Also captured in this shot are M32 and M110 which are 2 satellite galaxies of Andromeda (M31). Earlier in that night I went after the Veil Nebula and did a quick stack and process but I believe I have some more shots of it and didn't do a good job of processing so I need to rework that before showing the results.
