These images are a bit like shooting fish in a barrel compared to the impressive images of uncommon species but here for your entertainment anyway:

I actually don't have a problem with that at all. However once I finish adding in 2.5+ hours of additional shots I should be able to show more of the finer details on the outskirts (nebulosity mostly) and will be posting that in probably a few days. I had a bit of a hiccup when stacking things because the power went out one night during the stacking process so I had to start over again and that is rather computer intensive even if it is mostly automated. As such didn't finish editing the 3+ hour stack yet but will probably finish with it in the next day or 2 and will throw up a small version here. If she wants I would be willing to send her the full resolution image of that to show.to the class with details on it.

In the past when working with scouts on stuff they can see in the night sky I have also borrowed other's images (always with permission as well) to show what things looks like so it is actually flattering that now I am being asked.
MossyRocks,

Thank you. She will be delighted. She teaches Physics and Math. The Fall semester won't begin until around the third week of August. She is currently teaching Statistics this summer via distance learning through the university system. Looks like her Fall classes will be the same style. She is starting to set up units for the Fall classes next week. She probably won't get into that course for a couple weeks. I will check with her as to about when she could use the image. Let's PM each other and I can get you in touch with her. Once again, thank you.

Wonderful bird images - as usual. However do you find such a diversity of birds so consistently? I guess that's a confession that I don't go out looking as regularly as I should/could. D-n science for ever discovering inertia!

Walter, I go out every morning weather permitting at 04:30am and I'm usually back home by 11:00am. I have been driving to Salisbury plain [around 30 miles from home] which is used by the British Army as a training ground, there seems to be lots of wildlife around and not many people.

Been to Salisbury once. As I recall, a good mixture or open fields, meadows, some standing water, copses, and woodlands around the margins. Great diversity of habitats for a great diversity of birds.

Catch of the day

My catch of the day, probably not the bird's. Same bird, different angle.

Likewise, a quick visit to Stonehenge.

My maternal Grandfather was at Larkhill in 1918 doing a 3 week trench warfare course to top off his 2 weeks marching around the parade ground before heading to France. Spent about 2 weeks on the front line in total before being gassed and was demobbed in mid 1919.

The furthest I can trace my family line is to Chettle (ca1700) 30k south of Stonehenge.

Ancestors on my patrilineal side (= my current family name) may come from southern England as I saw the name there in several contexts, notably the name of a bank. However, I can only confidently trace to about 1780 in the USA, then marriage records become unreliable. It is certain the family settled in what is now Maine sometime in the mid 1600's as there are numerous individuals with my family name there in various town census and property records, but the marriage, birth, and death records are hopeless.

Is a gos-hawk the same as or different from a gosh-awk?
