I have been using the 67 M* 400mm f4 lens in the single in challenge this month, today I went silly and added the 2 67 Grey converters a 1.4x and a 2x on to the lens to give an effective 1120mm f11 lens. I know that stacking converters is not normally recommended, however the results truly amazed me. I have been impressed with the lack of aberration in the lens by itself, however it still looks more than acceptable with the stacked converters

and a pano from 3 stitched shots using just the 400mm

Just for giggles I mounted up an old Sears 300mm 5.6 (rebadged Tokina?) on my K1 this morning for my typical cell-tower image testing. I've had it kicking around for maybe 40 years, purchased for my K1000 and other than a shot or two on my K-50, before I understood how to use manual lenses on a Pentax DSLR, it hasn't been touched in decades.

It was...
MUCH better than I expected it to be. I may post a couple shots later but I guess it just goes to show that even old dirt-cheap lenses can render very decent images on a good camera. Manual everything and I have a *300 F4, so I doubt I'll ever use it much but it's not at all a bad lens for someone on a strict budget. Surprise!

A local agricultural, trucking, and various other operations has been acquiring large plots of land and deforesting them for pasture, vegetable, and Christmas tree usage. This was beside the dirt road into the small group of houses on the edge of the escarpment. K-3 A-400 as equipment continued elevating the debris piles as they burned, including a small abandoned home. Glare was bouncing off the background in numerous shapes. 15 second exposure from access road above the burn.

Added some more exposure time to my Andromeda (M31) but not last year's shots as there I used a light pollution filter so when combining those in with the fresh ones caused a bad color shift. However I did take almost another half hours worth so here we have a bit under an hours worth of shots combined:

165x20s (astrotracer)
ISO 3200
F/3.5
Camera: K-3
Lens: SMC A* 400mm f/2.8 ED [IF]

Stacked in APP
Most processing in GIMP
Final touches in RawTherapee

Staying a few days at a place called "Worlds end"..... near Burra in South Australia.

Witnessed a "Worlds end" sermon from this Whte-winged Chough.

It was preaching to the converted.....

That is an absolutely great image and a perfect example of what astrotracer can do in the hands of a skilled photographer. Well done and thanks for sharing.
