I think it is called 'Torch Aloe', but best to research it a bit first.
Where I took this shot those flower stalks are at least 3m up, some maybe higher, and the plant base covers about 10m x 10m. It could be many plants all grown together, hard to tell.
You can see them at the homestead at Woodlands Historic Park...when we are able to travel again!

Cheers,
Terry

I can make it to one corner of Braeside IF carrying a camera is accepted as 'exercise'.

For those who don't know, we now have a 5km (3mile) radius limit plus an 8pm to 5am curfew. Ca la vie.

Juvenile red-bellied woodpecker, Oly 300mm f4, cropped. I saw the parent come down to the feeder with this youngster and feed it beak-to-beak. I set up hoping to capture that moment, but instead, parent and offspring each returned only alone. It's as if: "OK kid. This is where you can get free eats. Here-on, you're on your own."

New lens in collection

I just received a nice copy of the Mamiya 645 C 500mm f 8.0 reflex/mirror lens for use on the K-1. It is a medium format lens but not usable on the P645 mount because of incompatible registry distances. Here are a few initial shots.

I really like my long lenses and posting my lame sheep photos to this group, but my 1000mm monstrosity isn't ideal... so I splashed out on an F*300mm F/4.5. It's my first non-manual lens for my K1 so I had to fight off all the auto settings so I could play with it like I do my F5/D300 (I tried taking a photo of a dove sitting on bricks but the autofocus helpfully showed me it was focusing AROUND the bird - thanks!). I prefer the longer reach of the 500mm on my F5/D300 for more portrait-y photos of animals without them running off, but the K1 and F*300 can be used at a distance and cropped way down.

Not the best photo, but I caught a BIF!

It'd be rude not to include a sheep pic...
