From yesterday....
K-3 and Tamron 300 2.8, and HD DA 1.4 TC,

Still no shots of the male evening grosbeak but one of the females is still coming around. Also out there today was the Male Ruffed Grouse I photographed in the spring.

And this one grackle, he's injured with a bad leg, but he seems to do well with one. He was here last year as well.

American tree sparrow

And with the DA* 200
Blue Jay

I was busy doing something else yesterday and one of these guys flew from the feeder over to my face then landed right over my head. He was saying "dude, forget cleaning the snow from the steps, the birds haven't been fed yet."

Well my last post bugged me because I realised I might get away with a generic adaptor to get my Nikon lens onto my K1, and since lockdown (in the UK) starts tomorrow* I took a half day off from work to go to my local haunt to try the K1 with Nikon 500mm F4/P with a cheapo glassless adaptor. I didn't get infinite focus of course but for portraits of medium mammals it's perfectly good... and I took a bunch of shots at squirrels but didn't get any in decent focus sadly.

On AV mode it happily measures exposure, and it has focus confirmation. I could practically hear the shake reduction mechanism crying though!

*you get at least four weeks break from my sheep pics!

Looks good! What is the maximum focus distance you get with the glassless adapter?

Wonderful images!

ID is appreciated for those of us across the pond who are unfamiliar with old world species. TIA.

The weekend will be gorgeous here too. Yesterday was 16ºC, but we had -12ºC and snow. few days ago. Snow acts as a reflector so first snow of the year, I get out there, before it gets cold.

There's still bit of snow in the bush, but none in the yard today. I may even try doing some exterior painting later on.

Yesterday I took a few images with the K-1 and Tamron 300 2.8 with the Tamron 2x TC. I have to use an exposre compensation of -2 and the Focal Length isn't correctly recorded but still, a 600mm ƒ5.6 for a couple grand is worth some fussing.

I'm not great at guessing distance but the original lens's infinity focus is at about 150ft, so I guess maybe at least 100ft with the adaptor? I could probably fit a horse in the frame at the focus limit if that's any use as a reference

Visited a pond for the annual opportunity to see Hooded Mergansers up close. Just the one male, not as close as the ones I had last year, but I did have a Wood Duck to keep me company. Hopefully the Hooded Mergs will there in greater numbers for for another visit- they are especially entertaining when they interact with each other.

100 ft is not bad at all! I'm sometimes within that range for deer, fox, eagles, herons, etc.
