Interesting about the woodpeckers 'fashion-ation' with red. In these parts, it's usually a head ornament.

Here I found a photo with female (left) and male (right).
Seems like only the boys have the head's red ornament.

A familiar phenomenon.

How do you feel the FA* 400/5.6 compares with your other long tele lenses?

Nice image of that Catalina; the foliage in the background works very well.

I'd say it's a nice size and weight for the reach it gives...
Color rendition is on par to other FA* lenses... purple fringing a bit more when light is tight and not as sharp as my FA*250-600 or the DA*300 wide-open, but acceptable. Sometimes I miss F4 compared to DA*300. I'd say it would compare to a DA*300 + HDTC, but bokeh is much better with the FA*400

I whish Pentax makes a similar prime with latest optic technology...

My spouse spotted that hawk on the telephone lines the day before... We came back and it was still in the area. It was surprisingly very cooperative to our great pleasure!

Do you know the name and model number of this plane? I would love to look it up and read details about it.
