A couple of Black-crowned Night - Herons hoping the ice will go away and an example of a deep crop using this lens combination (hand held).

Thanks Albert. These birds should be in the southern U.S. by now. You would think the ice would have given them a hint to move on.

Lovely bif shots! Seeing those powerlines in the first shot gave me a start. Locally we annually lose quite a number of the larger birds, like cranes and vultures, by them flying into the lines.
